Trauma Recovery

The key to your well-being may be found in the resolution of past traumatic experiences.

Sometimes trauma is recent and fresh. Sometimes, you’ve carried around the pain for years and just now need to talk about and release. A trusted therapist can help you name and heal trauma so you can feel a sense of wholeness and peace.

What is trauma?

A traumatic experience: You might think of this as “Capital T” trauma that clearly defines your life – an accident, a loss, an injury. Sometimes, however, you may not see something as traumatic at the time because its effects only emerge later.

Developmental trauma: If your childhood needs were not met, you’re set up for a number of challenges as you grow older. This can be a result of abuse or neglect or simply the result of well-meaning parents who did not have the skills and resources to give you the care you need.

Trauma has so many symptoms. Our reactions are as unique as we are. Signs that you have experienced a trauma and need help processing it:

  • Anxiety – feeling stuck in “fight or flight”
  • Nightmares and sleep disturbance
  • Distraction and memory issues
  • Depression
  • Difficulty in relationships
  • Feelings of “I just can’t deal with this”
  • Feelings of “I am not enough”

Your therapist can help you process your feelings, integrate your experiences, and empower you to find new coping strategies.
